Why do the tourist tax values in Finance → Data Export not match the overnight stays in Statistics → Tourism? | |
Why are the numbers different between these two sections? | |
The differences are due to how the data is calculated:
- Statistics/Tourism shows the number of nights for all guests (adults and children) per month. These figures are used for reporting to Statistics Austria. - Finance/Data Export calculates the tourist tax based on issued invoices. Children usually do not pay the tourist tax. Additional differences can occur because: - Invoices may be issued before or after the actual booking period. - Nights from a booking that span across months are only counted on one invoice in Finance. This means that the numbers in Statistics can be higher because they reflect the actual overnight stays of all guests, while Finance shows the taxable amounts based on invoices. | |
