For image galleries, the standard 3:2 landscape format with a moderate resolution works best. A good guideline is 1500 × 1000 pixels, which ensures clear display without significantly affecting loading times.
It is fine if the format slightly deviates from 3:2, as long as the image remains in landscape orientation. In the gallery overview, the central area of the image is always shown. Portrait images are less ideal, as the visible area in the overview is relatively small.
